Bath and Body Works is an established brand. They provide a broad range of products including hand soaps, body care and sanitizers, as well as fragrances and their most popular product, scented candle. The company operates more than 1,900 stores and 6.4 million Instagram followers at the date of this article. This indicates how popular it is. Nearly every American mall has at least one Bath and Body Works location. How do they rank in terms of the use of sustainable ingredients and clean packaging? We looked into the brand and rated them on the three pillars that we believe makes for a mindful brand. IngredientsBath and Body Works is extremely opaque when it comes to ingredients. It's not possible to find ingredients lists online for the products on the Bath and Body Works' website. We found that there's a lot to be in the way of ingredients. Essentially all of their products have at least one ingredient we would recommend against. Although this isn't an exhaustive list, it will provide you with some ideas of ingredients that might be problematic in Bath & Body Works products. Fragrance Bath and Body Works liberally employs chemical fragrances in almost all their products. Read our complete post to learn the reasons we do not recommend products containing chemical fragrance. Artificial fragrances are also found in candles. Methylisothiazolinone This preservative is present in a wide variety of all natural products. It's been linked to the inhalation of toxic substances, allergies, and possible neurotoxicity. SLS/SLES SLES is linked to cancer. SLS can irritate the skin. It is found in many Bath & Body Works products and wash products. Parabens Preservatives with chemical components are often used in personal care products. They're possible endocrine disruptors and could be replaced by less harsh preservatives that are widely employed in other products available on the market. Parabens are present in a variety of items in the range of products from the company. Sustainability The majority (xxx items) are offered in plastic containers with a single use. The brand doesn't offer any recycling, refill or return plans. Bath bombs are packaged in shrink wrap made of plastic which isn't eco-friendly. Lush would sell them in a package that is free of packaging. Their candles are the only instance of a product that is reusable we have found. The candles come in glass containers that can easily be recycled or reused as long as they are cleaned properly. This is why the company receives a failing grade for sustainability. Animal Rights Cruelty-Free Bath and Body Works does not advocate cruelty-free products. China is the location where the product is sold. There are laws that restrict the use of animals in final products. Therefore, the brand cannot be considered to be cruelty-free. Vegan Bath and Body Works isn't vegan-friendly. They lack transparency in their ingredients, making it difficult to know which products are vegan. They receive a failing grade because they do not put a high priority on vegan ingredients.
